Tunkhannock Assembly of God

We are a group of women that meet once a month, the 2nd Monday of the month. We are a very active group of ladies and would like to welcome anyone who would like to come. Here is a list of the outreaches we do. Our main focus is to reach the community for Jesus Christ and share his love.
We have several service projects throughout the year. We do break them down by season as follows:
Winter- Winter Coat Drive runs from January through March, we chose his time due to the fact that most coats are going on clearance at this point and can be purchased at a discount for the following Fall. We then donate them to Interfaith for them to use for kids in their coat give away for Back to School and the arrival of winter.
Spring- Shoes for Orphans Souls runs from March through May, we collect new pairs of sneakers with one pair of white socks. These sneakers are then distributed around the world to children who are in need of them.
Summer- Christmas In July Toy Drive runs from July to the first week in December. We collect toys at this time and donate them to the Christmas Bureau to help provide a child with a Smile on Christmas Morning.
Fall- Military Stockings run from August to October. We get together several days during this time and sew the stockings together. We have a list of items on the back table in church that are military approved that we need to fill the stockings. We then have them shipped out before the first week in November to ensure arrival in time for the holidays.
Bake Sale- We have this twice a year: once in August and when we set up a table at the Wal*Mart and sell donated baked goods to help us with our outreaches. On this table we have our own Welch Cookies. We make them here at church and sell them two separate times in the back half of the year. First is our bake sale in August and second is in December, in time for Christmas. We will keep you posted on dates, times and prices.
Along with our many activities, we make pillows for heart and cancer patients at the hospital.
Twice a year we have conventions that allow us to get together with others from our district and share in the experiences that God had lead us on, to spend a day in Fellowship with others, prayers, worship, powerful speakers, who speak right to your heart and many experiences from others, just like you and me. For this event we leave Friday morning and return late Saturday afternoon. Anyone is welcome to attend this event. See any of the Women of Purpose officers for more information or ask us how here.
We also take a week for the Advent Services and the Lenten Services at the Methodist Church where we are in charge of the luncheon and our Pastor conducts the service.
We have several events that we take part in. Our biggest one is Pastor Appreciation Day. This usually happens in mid-October it’s a meal that we prepare, set up and clean up. We also support our church outreaches such as Halloween Outreach and our Carnival Workers outreach.

Join us as we look at the words and actions that people say and do around us that may effect us and we may not realize it. It will be an afternoon fill with discussion and some light refreshments to follow. See you there!!!
